Activities

Pope John's school colors are blue and white, with their mascot being the Crusader. The Crusader is based on the Crusades, which happened in the late 12th century. Pope John takes part in the D-1 activities in the Nebraska School Activities Association. The school's track and field team has had a few students qualify for state championships in recent years, and the ladies' basketball team made it to state in 2006. In 2008, the ladies' basketball team made it to the state championship game and ended up getting state runner-up. The boys' basketball team made it to state for the first time in 2007. In November 2007, the football team won the school's first state championship.
